Shaun of the Dead was one of the best films of last year IMO and pulled off that rare trick of being both genuinely frightening and funny.
Any others? |

Must be the Italiano in him. Anyway, Max is a zombie expert and wrote a book about it. I wonder if Mel Brooks ever made a zombie movie. |

Reanimator, Brain Dead (aka Dead Alive) and the Evil Dead series are zomcom classics, and Return of the Living Dead 3, Idle Hands, Plan 9 From Outer Space and Zombie Flesh Eaters (aka Zombi 2) may be worth a look, depending on taste.
Speaking of taste, Bad Taste if we're counting zombielike brain-eating aliens. Probably not, huh. I also liked the rage-infected super-speed zombielike non-zombies in 28 Days Later. That flick broadened and advanced the genre in some ways, and rewarded a rewatch and dvd commentary exploration.
Golden Oldie: I Walked with a Zombie.
Most underrated: The Serpent and the Rainbow. |

Then the casting is really weird, there was a midget cast as a little boy who breast feeds and he ends up eating his mother. *shiver* |

newer: Dellamorte Dellamore, really cool italian cult movie; Junk: Shiryō-gari
amateur: The Dead Next Door, Redneck Zombies (Troma), Premutos (german)
Dawn of the Mummy, well it´s a ... mummy movie (what a surprise), but the mummies behave like zombies.
I also recommend italian zombie movies from Fulci or D´Amato.
There´s one called Hell Of The Living Dead. It´s a little bit controversial, if it´s good or bad, but I like it. |
