Matthew Pearl's "The Dante Club" (so far, very boring) and Kathy Reichs' "Cross Bones". Her most bloodless book (actually, a Da Vinci-like story), nothing spectacular.

Kathy Reichs is mystery. I read the one about the saint's relics. See, I forgot already. There's a TV show based on her forensic anthropologist (pathologist?) called "Bones." The co-star is David Boreanaz ("Angel"). I couldn't get into the show.

Recently I read both the Dexter books by Jeff Lindsay (after watching the Showtime TV show of the same name). Anybody looking for something really sick should check out the second Dexter book. (I'm wondering how closely the second season of the show will follow the second book, because it seems to me that it would be unfilmable.)

Also, in my old age I'm finally getting into Stephen King. I read The Stand and thought that was cool. So next is the Dark Tower series.

I love Dexter. The books are wonderful..the series has been great thus far. I can't wait for the second season..I opened a dexter Group here on SU, not many members..lol
*I am hoping that could change but once the new season is on I will have stuff to say. :)

I used to love Stephen King(including his books penned under the name Richard Bachman, like Rage). I never really got into the Dark Tower though..I am more of a Stephen King short story fan.

Haven't read the second Dexter book, but the first book was different from the series that it wasn't like reading a novelization of it. Loved both.

I loved both the books, but did not enjoy the series.

If you want to read something really good, I can recommend Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. Be warned though, they are extremely erotic.

16: Have you heard about the third book 'Dexter in the Dark' apparently Dexter goes to a crime scene and the Dark Passenger sees something that freaks it out, so all of sudden the Dark Passenger goes quiet, and the book is partially about Dexter delving into what the Dark Passenger is. (I haven't read it, yet.)

No, I have not seen the third book, but thanks, will look out for it. Will be more morbid and of a deeper nature than the first two, I presume.

It looks like Jeff Lindsay may explain what or who exactly the Dark Passenger is.
