Its very hard these days -- for me that is -- to find new and upcoming horror and gore movies. I was stumbling for horror and noticed a site for a movie called Ichi The Killer from i think 2002. Its a japanese movie. The trailer didnt scare me, but then again i dont scare easily, it will make people queasy if theyre not used to it. Its kinda like sitting on ogrish.com... check out the trailer. ichithekiller.net. by the way, can anyone recommend any movies like this -- the gorish part that is. Just something to scare me very badly :P

Did you ever see Dead Alive? The goriest scene is when the guy walks through a crowd of the undead carrying a lawn mower. Quite a mess.

The Blood Trilogy of director Herschell Gordon Lewis are classics in this genre. They may be 40 years old, but I bet they still can make you sick. The films are 2000 Maniacs, Blood Feast and Color Me Blood Red. I saw Blood Feast some years ago. I prefer 200 Motels to 2000 Maniacs. And 10,000 Maniacs did "What's the Matter Here?"

Dead Alive aka Braindead aka Braindead 13 wins fucking hands down in this category. exceptionally satisying airbourne body parts.

not a horror movie as such, but john waters' Pink Flamingos is pretty gory (talking asshole gymnastics, fat old women in playpens smearing themselves with scrambled eggs), as is Bad Taste.

a lot of people find any of cronenberg's movies involving sentient anatomical appendages particularly bothersome (videodrome, naked lunch, existenz)

I realise I'm a little late in the day here, but if you don't mind your gore with tongue firmly in cheek you could do a lot worse than check out "Story of Ricky" - a Hong Kong kung-fu movie.

It works better with a couple of beers inside you, but it's a classic of it's type.

Actually I'm not sure there are any other movies of the same type as Story of Ricky.

And Ichi the Killer is brilliant by the way. My father in law watched my copy whilst babysitting the other night. The wife made me hide Nekromantik 1 & 2 in case any of her relatives saw them on the shelf and wanted to know what they were about.

uh the Hellraiser series is very gory but not new...I have downloaded Audition, a Korean horror film, I believe, that is supposed to be very gory and disturbing...

imdb.com/title/tt0295867/maindetails [imdb.com/title/tt0295867/maindetails]

According to IMDB, it's from 1997 but I think it's just now getting released in the US...anyway, I haven't watched it yet but it's supposed to have a lot of torture and whatnot in it.

And you want the goriest movie I've seen in a long time? The Passion of the Christ...I've seen Faces of Death and tons of gore and that one has the most torture I've ever seen....I actually had to look away when they were whipping him with those things and ripped a chunk of flesh off...(but don't tell anyone that). I can't seem to handle as much gore as I get older...I used to be able to watch people be disemboweled (Dr. Butcher, MD) and eat really soft fudge when I was a kid, but now...I guess being older you've actually experienced pain and you can "feel" the gore more on a personal level...or is it just me?

I've not seen the Korean Audition although I own a copy of the Japanese remake. That was one of the few films that really made me whince.

I've not seen Passion of the Christ as yet, maybe one for me to rent when I fancy something a bit different.

I downloaded the first couple of Guinea Pigs - "Devil's Experiment" and "Flowers of Flesh and Blood", but I didn't watch either all the way through.

I didn't mind the gore, but I do like at least some story in a movie. The plot synopsis for the second consisted of "man disembowels woman" and very little else from what I could tell. Wasn't it that movie that Charlie Sheen saw and reported it to the authorities because he thought it was an actual snuff film?

Any of the Japan Shock films you specifically recommend?

Guts of the Virgin(fake snuff). That is actualy Japan shock cinema, a part of their film production that is concentrated on deviant sexual behavior.

vexxtra provides a Listmania of Gories:

Dead Alive tops this list of disturbing movies. If a gore movie doesn't have some humor in it, then it is just sick.

I agree with vexxtra re: handling gore. There so many true stories of murderous psychos. True crime occupies a bookshelf under horror.
